We were drawn to Norway because of the fiords, and we were not disappointed. We followed an easily accessible route that is termed "Norway in a Nutshell." The route we followed was via train from Bergen to Voss, bus to Gudvangen, ferry to Auland, bus to Flam, scenic train to Myrdal, then regular train back to Oslo. We spread this trip over two days, which made it relaxing.
These photos were taken on the bus ride from Voss to Gudvangen.
The ferry goes from Gudvangen to Flam (or vice versa if you want to do the trip in the opposite direction). So as to enjoy the fiords up close and personal, we got off the ferry perhaps 10 miles before Flam at Aurland where we spent the night. The rest of the photos on this page were taken during our boat ride from Gudvangen to Aurland.
