The National Gallery was free, like most national galleries and it had an excellent collection of paintings. There were a lot of Norwegian painters. Many of them specialized in Norwegian landscapes so they provided a good preview of what we would be seeing on our trip. Their most famous landscape painter is Christian Dahl. However, when I tried to find Norwegian painters on the web, there was not much there - except for Munch. And speaking of Munch, we were happy to find out that the gallery still had a version of the Scream and also the Madonna, even though versions of these were stolen about a month ago.

Frogner Park houses statues by Gustav Vigeland (1869 - 1943). He dedicated his life to creating these statues that portray the stages of life. They are world famous and rightly so.
Photo 1 - A statue of Vigeland.
Photo 2 - The park has also some beautiful gardens and lots of open space.
The first part of the park is a long walkway, with statues on either side.
The Tree of Life section has a fountain surrounded by tree like figures.
Gates, made by Vigeland, surrounded the focal point of the park.
At the center of the park is a tower of people, surrounded by many awesome statues.
