Independence Avenue has some nice old sugar maples. These are relatively near our house and thus do not present a problem to haul maple sap to the house.

The photos below show: Dick tapping a tree, Sandy attaching a milk jug to collect the sap, and boiling the sap outside on a makeshift stove. In following years we got braver/smarter and were able to boil all of the sap inside the house on our woodstove - with no ill effects to the house.
