From Goteborg, we took the train to Stockholm.
Concrete lions discourage motorists from driving on Stockholm's main shopping street. We asked two girls if it was OK to take their picture, and they signified yes by scrambling on the lions.
Stockholm's old town is called Gamla Stan which is were we stayed our first night in Stockholm.

Photo 1 - a pump that is a least 400 years old. It used to be the main source of water to the nearby buildings.
Photo 2 - this steep street is paved with small fieldstones. The rows of stones slope to the side to fight erosion.
Every Scandinavian capital city has to have a royal palace, and this is Stockholm's.
Stockholm is Scandinavia's Venice - lots of beautiful canals.
The ocean waters around Stockholm have more than 30,000 islands so we had to go on a cruise to see some. We did a poor man's tour - took a ferry which is used by the locals to go to and from to home.
After an hour and a half ferry ride, we disembarked on the island of Vaxholm. We walked around for an hour and then returned to Stockholm via another ferry.
When we arrived back in Stockholm they were having their weekly band event. Eventually the bands marched a mile to the palace for the changing of the guard.
At the Stockholm city hall is the tomb of Birger Jarl - the founder of Stockholm. The center photo shows a common area at the city hall - a wedding had just occurred. The last photo shows a wishing pipe - you whisper you wish and it is carried via the pipe to the bottom of the ocean. You then put your ear to the pipe to hear if your wish was granted.
