DICK DANIELS and SANDY COLE's World

DICK     SANDY     DICK and SANDY     TRAVEL

SEWARD etc

We flew into Anchorage and left via rental car about 2 PM. The drive to Seward took less than 3 hours. Mountains were visible most of the time.

As in many Alaska towns, there were lots of murals.

The Seward harbor does not freeze in the winter. This once made Seward a large and
important city for entrance to the north country. It is still popular for tourists and fishing.

An impressive waterfall feeds a stream that enters into Resurrection Bay a few hundred feet from the falls.

EXIT GLACIER

Exit Glacier is only a few miles from Seward. We explored it two different times:
the first drizzly day we took the Overlook Loop Trail and the second sunny day we took the Outwash Plain Trail.

The outwash plain as seen from the Overlook Loop Trail.

The stream created by glacial melt helped create the outwash plain. Below are some moraine piles from the glacier.

The first two pictures were taken from the approach road, a couple of miles from the glacier.
Picture 3 was taken as the Outwash Plain Trail exits onto the outwash plain.

These pictures were taken from the Overlook Loop Trail. Five years ago the glacier was at the
railing shown in the first picture. Nine years ago when Dick was previously at Exit Glacier,
the glacier was 200 feet further down the hill.
